Flashback Friday: Lo-Key and Destiny’s Child

Well, look at this, Friday’s here! And it’s a sight for sore eyes.

Time to get you through the day with some throwback R&B.

Lo-Key, Where Dey At? (1992)

This week over in the Soul In Stereo Cypher on Facebook, Lo-Key’s hit “I Got a Thang 4 Ya” was mentioned and I was surprised by the number of people who couldn’t remember the group. Let this serve as a reminder – their run didn’t last long but they gave us great songs.

Destiny’s Child (1998)

Have y’all taken out a second mortgage on your house to finance your On the Run II tickets yet? Before Beyonce puts us ALL in debt yet again, let’s remember the good ol days, when you could see her for 5 bucks at your local shopping mall. DC’s debut isn’t nearly as celebrated as their more memorable work but this was an outstanding debut. Also, I’m a sucker for the original DC lineup.

“Killing Time”

  1. Ed, what’s happening, playa? Really dig the SoulBack podcast with you and the YKIGS squad. Your comments and responses are hilarious and on point. J. Holiday’s episode had some gems on it. I would like to suggest for you guys to try to get Smoke E. Digglera on there. Also, for Soul In Stereo, would you be able to do a ‘Whatever Happened To…’ on Chuckii Booker? Thank you regardless and keep up the great work.

  2. What up playa, don’t worry, Smokey’s a friend of the show. We’ll have him on soon enough. And I’ve already taken care of Chuckii for you: http://www.soulinstereo.com/2016/11/what-ever-happened-to-chuckii-booker.html
