Flashback Friday: Anita Baker and K. Michelle

It’s a new year, playas! It’s been awhile since we’ve flashed back on a Friday – let’s get 2018 started right.

It’s finally time for this legend to kick her heels up and relax. Anita Baker announced this week that she’s planning to embark on her farewell concert series very soon. And you can guarantee you’ll get to hear many of these hits on stage. Check her out when she hits your city.

Though K. Michelle had been doing her thing years before, add her name to the growing list of artists who cultivated an audience via reality TV before finally making a name for herself in music. I can’t front on the success of that strategy – your girl Cardi B is riding that wave pretty strongly these days. But K. Michelle is no gimmick, she’s got some very good tracks to back up her reality TV drama. We’re still waiting for her to give us that one definitive album, but her 2013 debut was solid in its own right.
