Four Reasons Why You Should #BlogLikeCrazy This November

November’s here, and while that usually means our attention turns toward football, family and stuffing our faces, we writers have a bigger challenge ahead of us.

Fifth time’s the charm – it’s time to Blog Like Crazy.

Five years ago, my lovely wife Javacia Harris Bowser – founder of Soul In Stereo’s predecessor GeorgiaMae.com – issued a challenge to her community of writers and bloggers. Every day during the month of November, writers are charged with posting at least one blog post every day during the month. Over past five years, that community of bloggers has grown into the award-winning See Jane Write network for women writers and the #BlogLikeCrazy challenge has become of the hallmarks of that group.

And since this very blog’s roots are tied to that network, we’re taking the challenge too.

Also, I’m just a supportive husband like that.

Posting a blog EVERY SINGLE DAY might seem like a pretty hefty challenge, especially as we hurdle into the holiday season like a runaway sleigh. But trust me, if you’re a blogger, here’s why you should make the most of  the #BlogLikeCrazy challenge:

Content, content, content – That cool blog of yours is nothing without actual stories to fill it, right? Well, #BlogLikeCrazy forces you to unlock those lingering topics that have been floating around your brain and share them with the world. Ladies, if you need help coming up with topics to cover the month, you can join the See Jane Write network and get access to daily writing prompts and help with promoting your stories.

Time management – I won’t sugarcoat this: Creating 30 blog posts is a heavy commitment, especially when we’re all juggling multiple jobs, family obligations and holiday commitments. Life is tough. But trust me, you can do this. #BlogLikeCrazy forces you to carve out time in your busy day to meet your quota. That might mean waking up an hour earlier, staying up an hour later, or writing multiple posts at once to get you through the week. You can then carry those time management lessons into 2017, making you a much more consistent writer.

Hone your writing skills – No one wants to read the same post over and over for the next 30 days. #BlogLikeCrazy will force you to come up with new strategies and concepts to diversify the content on your site. Plus, the only way to improve your writing is to WRITE MORE. #BlogLikeCrazy will definitely take care of that for you.

Find a community – The coolest part about #BlogLikeCrazy, and the hallmark of the See Jane Write program, is connecting with fellow bloggers. Share your posts on social media with the #BlogLikeCrazy hashtag and fellow bloggers will show you some love. Just be sure to return the favor and read and share their content too.  Get ready to be introduced to a whole new network of great writers and insightful thinkers.

And, of course, stop by SoulInStereo.com every day this month for new content – album reviews, Love Letters, flashback posts and a few big surprises that I’ve got up my cufflink-bound sleeves.

So get out there and get to writin’.
