This Friday, let’s hop in the Delorean and roll back to 2003.

Lil Mo, Meet the Girl Next Door (2003)

Lil Mo has spent the last few years as the face of TV One’s R&B Divas: LA but her career pinnacle may be her sophomore album. Meet the Girl Next Door was filled with strong singles and stellar album cuts, it’s a shame it was overlooked by many fans.

Ruben Studdard, Soulful (2003)

I wasn’t living in Birmingham at the time of Big Ruben’s ascent to American Idol superstardom, but I can only imagine that his buzz here was deafening. In a very short time, he became the new face of R&B, dusting off Luther Vandross’ blazer and using his velvet vocals to captivate a new generation of fans. His debut album put his best foot forward.
