Flashback Friday: Teena Marie and Shalamar

We’re in the mood for some classic 80s R&B today. How bout y’all? If so, you’re in the right place.

Teena Marie, Naked to the World (1988)

I feel like Lady Tee’s early 80s run is extremely unappreciated. She dominated the early part of the decade with hit after hit. “Ooo La La La” is probably my favorite, but Naked to the World had many more gems.

Shalamar, Friends (1982)

Shalamar has had more members than the Power Rangers but we can all agree that the classic lineup of Jeffrey Daniel, Howard Hewett and Jody Watley was the best. Shalamar’s appeal was that they were just so much fun – I kinda miss the days when music was all about having a good time.
