Flashback Friday: Turquoise Jeep and Eminem

This Friday is dedicated to everyone who says I take music too seriously and won’t allow myself to have fun with it.

Y’all confuse light-heartedness with ignorance. I don’t tolerate the latter.

Here are two albums that prove rappers can have fun and still be talented.

Turquoise Jeep Records, Keep The Jeep Ridin (2010)

Turquoise Jeep are the crown kings of YouTube. No one does it better. If you aren’t familiar with Flynt Flossy and friends’ insane brand of hip-hop, just imagine every rap stereotype ramped up to 1,000. They’re not just parody rappers with green chest hair and fake beards, they have legit talent that shines in every insane YouTube vid they drop. Trust me, there is a method to their madness. Don’t sleep on the Jeep. #FlyntFlossyIsMyFavoriteRapper

Eminem, Encore (2004)

Every major artist has that one album in their catalog that even hard-core fans despise, sometimes unfairly so. For Eminem, that album is Encore. Don’t get me wrong, by no means is this album great. But goofy, immature Em is still better than most rappers on their best days. Largely, the set is pretty forgettable but there were a few triumphs scattered here and there. It’s nowhere near as bad as legend claims.
