Flashback Friday: Goapele and Keith Sweat

We don’t know about you, but it’s been a looooooong week over at Georgia Mae headquarters. Let’s celebrate the upcoming weekend with some good music.

Here’s what Javacia has in store:

Goapele, Change It All (2005)

Jai said: Many Goapele fans fell for this soul singer’s smooth vocals and thoughtful lyrics when they heard “Closer” from her first nationally distributed album Even Closer and I’m no different. But it was her second release Change It All that really sealed the deal. It’s one of few albums I own that I can let play without skipping a track. (And “Closer” is included on the CD as a bonus track!)

“Love Me Right”

What’s Edward listening to? You shouldn’t be surprised….

Keith Sweat, Make It Last Forever (1987)

Edd said: Keith will be blessing us with his latest album in less than a month, so I decided celebrate with some throwbacks. Yeah, I know, that’s probably just an excuse to listen to more Keith. But here’s a tidbit for you haters out there – arguably Keith’s most popular song, “I Want Her,” is arguably my least favorite Keith song. It just isn’t my cup of tea. But this album more than makes up for it. At just eight tracks, it’s very brief but that just gives the songs a better chance of making a lasting impression. Go on, make fun of Keith’s Cosby sweater and stone-washed jeans. I’ll be listening to a classic.
