Fat Tuesday was exactly that

Today’s post was supposed to be a celebration of my reaching another Weight Watchers milestone — my 10% target. Last week when I stepped on the scale and saw that I’d lost three pounds, putting me at a total weight loss of 14.8 pounds, I was sure I was well on my way. Then Fat Tuesday happened. There’s a reason it’s called that. I stuffed my belly with sweet and savory treats at school and at my church small group. So this morning I’d only lost 0.2 pounds. Sigh. 


Still I am proud that I’ve lost 15 pounds and I’m now only 11 pounds away from achieving my weight loss goal. To be honest, Fat Tuesday has in no way been my only day of splurging on high-calorie or high-fat foods, but Weight Watchers has taught me to watch my portion sizes (most of the time). What has saved me, I think, has been dedication to regular and vigorous exercise. As the great poet Fergie once said, “I be up in the gym just workin’ on my fitness.”
