Flashback Friday: Ludacris and David Banner & 9th Wonder

This Friday, let’s journey down South for a couple of old favorites.

the red light district

Ludacris, The Red Light District (2004)

Luda ended his musical hiatus earlier this week with his new album, Ludaversal. I’ll say one thing about that album — it proves that Luda has definitely matured. I mean, look at the godawful album cover for The Red Light District. Good lord, coonery like this makes me think the Illuminati is real. Anyway, the album content itself is cool, layering Luda’s impressive wordplay over radio-friendly tracks. It’s a fun time, but somebody burn that album cover, please.

David Banner and 9th Wonder, Death of a Pop Star (2010)

David Banner was once typecast as another eccentric country-fried rapper. But Death of a Pop Star helped break those stereotypes, teaming him with mega producer 9th Wonder to create a soulful slice of heaven.
