Progressive Soul Mondays: Janelle Monae

This Kansas City, Kansas native first moved to New York City to study theater with hopes of starring on Broadway.  She later changed her mind and decided to pursue her first passion — music.  Her musical style has been described as New Wave Afro-Punk.  ENJOY!

  1. This woman should be multi-platinum by now. She’s the most talented artist I’ve seen in a long, LONG time.

I just hope she escapes Puffy’s poison grip.

  2. Edward, I agree-minus the Puffy poison part. Janelle has creative control. He is more of a supporter of her independent label, Wondaland Arts Society, than a control-freak. I believe this is going to be Janelle’s breakout year! Looking forward to The ArchAndroid when it hits stores May 18th! It’s going to be EPIC!
