Edd’s MANtra: Hubby To The Rescue

Sometimes a man’s gotta do what a man’s gotta do.
As I’m sure most of you are well aware, Eminem’s comeback album, Relapse, is released next week. If you look hard enough, you might be able to find it before then, if you get my drift.
I haven’t received my advanced copy yet *cough* but I’ve heard a bunch of tracks already. One of those tracks that causing a stir is “Bagpipes From Baghdad.” In it, Em resumes his feud with Mariah Carey.
You don’t remember Eminem beefing with Mariah? Well, about four years ago, around the release of his last album, Mariah was stalking Em, or so he says. They allegedly went out on a date or two and she turned into a Bug-A-Boo. Word to Destiny’s Child.
Em even played voicemails she left him during his concerts, which said something to the effect of “I heard you’re getting back with your wife. Why won’t you call me? Why won’t you see me no mo’?”
She denied it all, of course, but I believed it – we all know Mariah isn’t the most stable woman on Earth.
Anyway, on this “Bagpipes From Baghdad” song, Em starts picking on Mariah again, cussing her out and saying she should dump her husband. But this time, Nick Cannon comes to her rescue!
And by rescue, I mean he wrote a scathing blog. Gotta love Internet thugs. From illroots.com:
Not only has his music not evolved, but also homeboy is still obsessed with my wife. The same female that wouldn’t let him get to second base from 8 years ago….I’m taking full action on you Eminem. I don’t know why no one has stood up to your b**** a** yet. But I guess it’s going to take a corny, wack rapping, boy toy from Nickelodeon to set you straight. And trust, I am going to be relentless.
Watch out! Nick Cannon’s ’bout to get relentless!
Darlin’ Nicky has since removed his thesis-long blog, but that hasn’t stopped people from laughing in his face for confronting Eminem. And that’s messed up. Why shouldn’t he defend his wife?
Yes, Nick Cannon against Eminem is like Tiger Woods against a Bengal tiger, but isn’t he obligated to defend his family? Yeah, his wife is crazy, but that’s HIS WIFE. If he didn’t come to her defense THAT would be a bigger travesty than Eminem’s taunts.
And speaking of Em, Nick made a good point in his blog – why does he always go after the weakest prey? Think about his past victims – pop singers like the Backstreet Boys and Britney Spears, irrelevant rappers like Ja Rule and Canibus, and people who can barely rap in the first place, like Jermaine Dupri and the Insane Clown Posse.
Heck, Rick Ross, fresh from shaking off 50 Cent’s attacks, has been challenging Eminem and Em hasn’t said one word. Officer Ricky is getting way too big for his britches (literally) by thinking he can take Eminem, but even he would put up a better fight than Mariah. Plus, I’d love to hear Eminem demolish him.
I never thought I’d be defending Nick Cannon over Eminem but I am. He might be setting himself up for a humiliating loss, but give that man respect for standing up for his wife.

  1. Although Nick Cannon will always be supa lame to me I too respect him for standing up for his wife. I never knew about the Eminem-Mariah thing.

He probably goes after the weak because I think if he messed with anyone hard that would come after him he would kill them. So he is just being smart.

  2. OK, this is the is first that I have heard about the Em-Mariah feud. I think that Nick Cannon did the right thing. That is his wife and he should have stood up for her. People may laugh in his face but so be it, because he did the right thing and for that, I give him props.

Why do we have to have all this beefing? Can we just have some good music? I mean, back in the day, music wasn’t about all the madness. It was about stuff to make you move, feel good and have a good time. Can we get that back instead of all this petty stuff?

  3. If the Em-Mariah beef happened today, now that gossip sites and TMZ are all the rage, it would have been bigger news.

I never heard it myself, but the song ‘Clown’ from Mariah’s Charmbracelet CD was supposed to ‘diss’ Eminem.
