FlashBLACK Friday: Tyrese and Method Man & Redman

On Thursday you broke your diet.

On Friday, you break your bank account.

Every Friday around these parts, we celebrate Flashback Friday. But in the spirit of the shopping season, today is FlashBLACK Friday. Add these two albums to your shopping playlist and may the Lord bless your finances.

Tyrese, Black Rose (2015)

Remember when Tyrese called Black Rose his confessions? Remember when he said it would be his last album ever? Remember when he pissed The Rock off, who then roasted him and this album into oblivion? Black Rose has QUITE the history but I’m just here for the music. As a body of work, it’s one of the more complete R&B releases in recent memory. Credit when it’s due.

Method Man and Redman, Blackout 2 (2009)

Everyone loves Red and Meth’s original Blackout album but the sequel was a great piece of business too. Blending  sharp wordplay with their signature humor, Blackout 2 was a ton of fun, one of the more underrated releases of its era.

  1. I haven’t heard the Meth and Redman album but I wanna take a listen. You and I have similar taste in music. Black Rose(from what I heard) is definitely a quality r&b album. “Shame” is one of the best r&b songs of the decade, quiet as it’s kept.
