Flashback Friday: Lloyd Banks and Ciara

Today, let’s flash back to simpler times – 2004.

Remember when we thought our president was bad back then? We hadn’t seen nothing yet.

Anyway, to the music!

Lloyd Banks, The Hunger for More (2004)

Remember when G-Unit ran EVERYTHING? The debut of Lloyd Banks, the original mumble rapper, was hotly anticipated due to a hot run of guest verses and mixtapes. His album wound up being pretty solid, giving us a few radio-friendly gems and the incredible lyricism that would be his hallmark.

Ciara, Goodies (2004)

Most of y’all know that I’m not the biggest Ciara fan, ESPECIALLY this period when her singles were played ’round the clock on every radio station. But I can’t hate on the success of her debut album, which crowned her as R&B’s newest sensation. And best of all (for me), she’d go on to have even better songs and albums.
