Flashback Friday: J. Cole and Anthony Hamilton

WELL WELL WELL, Friday my dear friend, good to see you.

Let me hit play on these throwbacks and get the party started.

J. Cole, Born Sinner (2013)

The homie J. Cole is blessing us with his latest album today and, as with most things Cole, I’m sure it will stir up a ton of controversy and hot takes. I’m a huge Cole fan but I’ll readily admit his catalog is wildly inconsistent. His sophomore album, as of this writing, still stands as his best LP. We’ll see if he can top it.

Anthony Hamilton, Comin’ From Where I’m From (2003)

Did you check out the most recent edition of the SoulBack podcast? We had our biggest guest yet – the iconic Jermaine Dupri. He told a great story about the difficulties of marketing a neo soul artist like Anthony Hamilton. Clearly JD had the magic touch though, this album is still beloved today.
