Jon B., Pleasures U Like (2001)

You guessed it, Jon B.’s episode of Unsung put me in the mood to revisit his catalog. But instead of running to his renowned sophomore and debut efforts, I turned to his third album, Pleasures U Like, which was largely ignored back in ’01. While the bouncy “Don’t Talk” is the set’s headliner, it’s the underrated album cuts that really make this one soar.

Shawnna, Block Music (2006)

In an era where female rappers are practically nonexistent, the game really needs Shawnna right now. The former first lady of Disturbing Tha Peace was on track to stardom before parting ways with Ludacris and winding up on the back of a milk carton. Both her debut album and Block Party, her second effort, showed her ability to craft both radio hits and street bangers. Ah Shawnna, what could have been…
