Just when you’re ready to give up on female MCs, Jackie Hill Perry comes through, lyte as a rock.

She may have made her name as a spoken-word poet, but these days Jackie Hill Perry is lacing hip-hop with her potent brand of spiritual insight. Her latest album, The Art of Joy, is a blend of faith and real-world applications.
