Flashback Friday: The Cure and Erykah Badu

Happy Friday, everyone! Ready for our Friday ritual? Let’s look back.

Georgia Mae fan Amy Trang shares this one:

The Cure, Disintegration (1989)

Amy said: This album would be the soundtrack of my dreams if all my dreams were set to music. Robert Smith’s aching voice and melancholic lyrics can always bring me back to my teenage brooding days.

Edward is all about giving second chances:

Erykah Badu, Mama’s Gun (2000)

Edd said: Not long ago, I talked about how I underestimated Missy Elliott’s sophomore album, due to the fact that her debut was so amazing. I foolishly overlooked Erykah’s second album for those very reasons. It took about a year and a half, but once I let myself get drawn in by Mama’s Gun’s simple arrangements and feisty wordplay, I was hooked. A cult classic for some, and unfairly ignored by others (including me), Erykah wasn’t afraid to go retro in an era when excess was the norm.
