The Other Woman

Senators Barack Obama and John McCain aren’t the only ones who want your vote on Nov. 4 and Gov. Sarah Palin isn’t the only woman in this race. Let’s not forget about the Green Party presidential candidate Cynthia McKinney. The six-term former Democratic congresswoman from Georgia chose hip hop activist and journalist Rosa Clemente as her running mate, making this the first all women of color ticket in U.S. history.
McKinney has stated that if she were running things there would be an immediate end to all wars and occupations by U.S. forces; Articles of Impeachment would be filed against President Bush and several members of his administration; and she would create a Department of Peace. McKinney has said she would also like to see a number of other Bush initiatives repealed, like the Patriot Acts, the Secret Evidence Act and the Military Commissions Act.
A goal of McKinney and the Green Party for this election is to snag 5 percent of the national vote, which could help the Greens land major party status.
